“Girl Child Day” gives us an opportunity to raise awareness of the different types of discrimination
and abuse that many girls suffer around the world. It is also brought about the importance of girls’
rights.
It is indeed a great opportunity for all the schools and institutions in Sri Lanka to be in solidarity
with Good Shepherd Schools.
An awareness programme was organized by the committee members of the “Girl Child Committee”
on 16 th of September 2020 and it was conducted by Goweri Peiris (Attorney-at-Law) the guest
speaker of the day. Various events such as, an awareness programme, designing logos and posters
were held at the school level under the theme of “MY VOICE OUR FUTURE” to showcase and to
empower the girls and the wider community.
