Rose Virgini Club
The Rose Virgini Club of the school has a membership of about 90 students with the able guidance of a Spiritual Directress & a Teacher-in-charge. They have an annual get-together with all Rose Virgini clubs of Good Shepherd Schools. While following the steps of St. Mary Euphrasia to enhance their spiritual life, they involve themselves in many charity projects throughout the year.
Meetings are Wednesday and Thursday every week. The Junior and senior groups meet and shere the life of Rose Virginiein various forms. This will enable our young students to be guided on the path of st' Mary Euphrasia.A mass was organized on the birthday of st'Euphrasiaand prayer service for the feast. Visits are organized to supuwath arana and prrtipura home for the differently abled children. A spiritual way of the cross during the season of lent was organized. The members function in the active manner holding the Good shepherd spirit with in there life expirience.
Rose Virgini Club - Senior
The students of Rose Virgini Senior Club paid a visit to Nayakakanda Good Shepherd Convent on the 12th of January 2017. The convent provides many apostolic services such as: Rehabilitation services rendered for unmarried & young girls. Homes for elders Home for orphan children A child development center They provide jobs too for the unemployed destitute females. We gained a lot of experience by this visit and it inspired us to also help in social service specially to help the destitute women in our country
A visit to Children’s Home Preethipura
The members of the Rose Virgini Club (Senior) of Good Shepherd Convent had the privilege of visiting the children’s Home at Preethipura on 15th of January 2016.
It gave the members the opportunity of being with the children and sharing with them the sweets and refreshments they had brought for them. They also realized that all of us are God’s children and belong to one family.
They also became aware of how grateful they should be to God for all they had received from Him.
Bible Society
At the inter-school Bible Quiz 2015 organized by St. Joseph’s College, our students won awards in the English and Tamil Medium. In the English Medium Junior we won 2nd place and 3rd place in Intermediate and Senior sections. In the Tamil Medium Junior we won 2nd place and 1st place in the Intermediate category.
St. Vincent de Paul Societiy
The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Good Shepherd Convent Kotahena has a membership of 35 students with the Head mistress of the Primary as the Spiritual Directress & a Teacher in-charge. The Vincentians involve themselves mainly in helping the poor and needy fellow students of the school in various ways.
Legion of Mary
Our school provides scope for religious activities that are directly concerned with the spiritual lives of students.
Legion of Mary meetings are held trilingually and it helps the students to grow in faith and love for Our blessed Mother Mary.
As active members serving under the banner of Mother Mary the legionaries visited Cathedral Elders’ Home and participated in the Youth Rally at St. Joseph’s College conducted by the Junior Curia of Colombo.
They also attended the annual Achies Function for 2015 at St. Anthony’s Church Kollpiti. They participated in the Curia Project with a visit to Maw Sevena and spent some time with the children.
Posters relating to themes on Mother Mary were also designed and displayed. Reciting the rosary at the grotto is part of the daily routine of the members.
Co –Shepherd Group (Lay Association Group)
Their aim is to carry out the Good Shepherd charism in lay personalities. Meetings are held regularly to share the Word of God and the personal experiences of the members. One of our members attended the Asia Pacific Intercontinental Assembly in Malaysia and the Congregational Chapter 2015 in Angers, France representing the Asia Pacific Reigion.
Young Christian Societiy
The Young Christian Society of Good Shepherd Convent Kotahena has a membership of 40 students with two teachers-in-charge. They allocate the money raised from various fund raising projects towards one charity during the year. Opportunities are given to the members to develop their talents in school and outside, under the guidance of the teachers.
